Natural Fibers Technology Research Center (NFTRC)
| The Aklan State University -Natural Fibers Technology Research Center serve as a venue for research, development, extension, education, and quality assurance of natural fibers from production, processing, product development and valorization, marketing, and promotion. Anchored on the Centers goal of upscaling natural fibers technologies and products thru progressive innovations for global competitiveness and sustainability. To realize this goal, the primary objectives are to nurture local natural fiber heritage; foster quality products and services through innovation and research; transfer innovative technologies through appropriate extension modalities; reengineer process, physical and man power resources; and create more viable and sustainable livelihood for natural fiber industry player. These objectives aimed to be accomplished thru various strategies innovative extension modalities such as maintaining demonstration sites and showroom, provide local and international training and consultations services, development of websites, and other social media platform, IEC material development, and academe and industry partnership. Likewise, rational use of internal fund and out-sourcing through collaboration and partnership and networks. Lastly, advance and engage in relevant R and D initiatives toward an inclusive economic growth, circular economy, and more resilient natural resources for a resilient futures. |
Regional Center for Climate Change (RCCC)
| The Regional Center for Climate Change (RCCC) was established by virtue of ASU Board of Regents Resolution No. 42-44 series of 2011 done on its 44th Regular Board Meeting on November 22, 2011. The Center is a strategy for modelling a convergence initiative between National Government Agencies (NGS), Non-Government Organizations (NGO) and the Aklan State University (ASU). Designed to make academic institutions and partner entities promote actions to reduce physical, economic, and social vulnerability to disasters, and adapt to changing climatic environment. Pursued to mainstream Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in various phases of institutional development plans and poverty reduction strategies. It is a “knowledge and capacity development” hub that serves as a data repository of evidence-based knowledge and practices in CCA & DRR that can be replicated geographically. |
Aklan Research Center for Coastal Studies (ARCCS)
| The Aklan Research Center for Coastal Studies (ARCCS) is a Board of Regents (BOR) – approved Research Center established in 2016 to serve as a research hub in ASU for CRM technologies. The main goal of ARCCS is to increase research capability and productivity of the faculty, staff, and students of ASU-CFMS through iterative training, as well as serve as a platform to enhance academe-industry-community linkages. To partly achieve these goals, ARCCS aims to publish the institutional scientific journal- Journal of Coastal Studies (JCS), aimed for CHED-accreditation in the future. ARCCS shall also serve as a hub for visiting local and international scientists in ASU, thereby fostering local/regional/national/international connectivity and engagement. Furthermore, ARCCS shall play an important role in instruction by providing technical and mentoring support to student research opportunities and experiential instruction. |
Akeanon Studies Center for Heritage, Diversity and Educational Innovation (ASCHDEI)
| The Akeanon Studies Center for Heritage, Diversity and Educational Innovation is committed to document and promote the Akeanon historical and cultural heritage and to intensify awareness on diversity and foster education innovation. The center will also provide venue where print and non-print sources are made available to researchers and other interested parties, serve a depository of cultural artifacts, establish linkages with other heritage centers in the Philippines and the world and enter into agreements with academic and research institutions working on diversity and educational innovation. |
Aklan Research Center for Sustainable Tourism (ARCST)
| The province of Aklan is well-positioned to take advantage of the tourism growth with its crown jewel, Boracay Island, along with cultural attractions such as Atiatihan Festival, and Yawa-yawa Festival, and natural attractions such as Hinugtan Beach, Bakhawan Eco-Park, Jawili Falls, Katunggan it Ibajay, Afga Rock Formations and other remarkable tourist spots. There are 17 municipalities in the province, each having a Municipal Tourism Office with the leadership of the Provincial Tourism Officer and each implementing tourism development programs. ARCST serves as the Aklan central research core that will serve as clearing-house, source of initiatives, and coordinating body of research studies related to sustainable tourism development. Its programs are based on the better awareness, promotion, upgrading, management and continuing development of sustainable tourism in Aklan. STRCA mainly would serve as a research base but in the long run it would also provide essential trainings and workshops extending fresh technologies for Basic Education Level, Tertiary Level and even in the Graduate School in the province of Aklan. Communities that have distinctive needs related to the center’s agenda would be a major of the materialization process in coordination with LGUs and partner agencies. |
Developmental Research for Economic Advancement and Modernization Research Center (DREAM)
| The Developmental Research for Economic Advancement and Modernization (DREAM) Research Center of Aklan State University–Kalibo Campus is a hub for cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research and innovation anchored on the Sustainable Development Goals. Established to strengthen R&D capacity in agriculture, fisheries, tourism, logistics, and industrial technologies, DREAM integrates smart computing, innovative industrial technologies, and product/service development to address industry and community needs. With flagship projects such as the SEAWAVeS maritime safety technology and HIBLATEK Natural Fiber and Fabric Systems, the center promotes knowledge generation, patenting, product commercialization, and policy recommendations while serving as a training ground for future researchers and innovators. In collaboration with partners including DOST, DTI, SUCs, Industry partners, and other non-government agency and government agency, DREAM advances inclusive growth, strengthens academe-industry linkages, and fosters sustainable development in Western Visayas and beyond. |
Aklan Human Kinetics, Sports and Wellness Research Center (AHKSWERC)
The Aklan Human Kinetics, Sports, and Wellness Research Center (AHKSWeRC) seeks to strengthen research in human kinetics, sports, and wellness by serving as a central hub that initiates, coordinates, and consolidates research efforts in the Province of Aklan and the region. AHKSWeRC will serve as source of initiatives, and coordinating body of research studies and innovations related to human performance sciences and related disciplines. It supports and advances research agendas such as grassroots sports and wellness development and institutionalization; innovations in sports training and physical activities; sports tourism and heritage; gender and development in physical education, sports, and wellness; disability studies; and innovations in disaster risk reduction and management and climate change.
